Mission: TEDU Without Barriers aims to create an environment that will support the academic, social, personal and professional development of students with disabilities by providing equal access to the facilities and services of the University.
Objective: TEDU Without Barriers works to prevent or reduce disadvantages due to physical and/or psychological disabilities that all students and staff on campus may encounter in their campus life. In line with this purpose, it provides appropriate services to disabled students and staff by adhering to the principles of volunteerism, confidentiality, accessibility and equal opportunity.
OUR PRINCIPLES
Confidentiality: TEDU Without Barriers keeps the personal information of all students and staff who apply to the unit for support confidential. This information is not shared with third parties without the consent of the individuals.
Volunteering: TEDU Students with Disabilities Unit operates on the basis that interested TEDU students and staff wish to benefit from the services offered by the unit. Applying to the unit is entirely voluntary on the part of the students and staff. However, in addition to the responsibility of the unit, individuals who apply for support are expected to assume their own responsibilities.
Equal Opportunity: TEDU Students with Disabilities Unit makes appropriate arrangements to prevent students and staff from being disadvantaged in education, assessment and working environments. In this context, documentation of disability status is a priority. Our efforts to ensure equal opportunities do not include positive discrimination.
Our Services Academic Adaptation: We offer a service to make the adjustments that students with disabilities need in their education and assessment processes. Students who wish to receive this support can apply to us by documenting their disability. After clarifying the needs regarding courses, classrooms and exams, appropriate arrangements are made for the students. In this process, it may be useful for students to consult with the commission members of their faculties. Since the members of the committee can have knowledge about the academic future of the major and the students, they can also advise them on this issue.

Disabled users using wheelchairs can access the library. Restrooms specially designed for disabled visitors are available outside on the same floor of the library. In addition, if there are problems accessing the library or the books in the collection, the staff of the information and reference unit can help. Loanable laptops with Jaws software are available for visually impaired users. A magnifying glass lending service is also available for users with partial vision problems.
Textbooks in the library collection can be scanned and made available to visually impaired users within the framework of copyright. For the books requested by our disabled users, they should fill out the disabled user book request form and send an e-mail to library@tedu.edu.tr.
